In the shadows of Sangui City, a street-thief called Tina patiently plots her revenge. Her mother has been shot dead at the home of one of Kenya’s richest businessmen, and Tina is sure she knows who’s to blame. When a local gang asks her to steal from his home, it’s the chance Tina has been waiting for.  But as she steps inside, old wounds resurface and she is caught red-handed by his son, Michael. The pair set in motion a cascade of dangerous events that could, at any moment, cost Tina her life.

I was send this to review and before starting this book I had no idea what it was about or what to expect. But now having read it, I have to say that I throughly enjoyed reading this book and I would urge everyone to give this book a try.

I found Vendetta to be a really interesting and unique character. Her determination to bring her mother killer to justice and for her to extract her revenge makes this a really great read. I thought that she was a character in which you connect with from the very beginning and you find yourself rooting for her.

I really liked the story and it was definitely something different from what I normally read. This is a thriller book so it does keep you guessing and at times the tension builds up you are holding your breathe and on the edge of your seat. I loved the twists and turns and I had no idea how it was going to end.

Another thing I did enjoy about this book was the pacing. It was fast paced at times then it would slow down and lure you into a false sense of security and then pick up again which keeps your eyes glued to every page. I’m not say the slow bits of the book are boring because they aren’t, it gives more time to flesh out the characters and the story.

I found the book to be really well written and I would love to read more by the author. Her writing was both interesting and informative, especially when she is describing the best ways to become a thief. It was an easy read because of the way the book is written, everything flowed and it was easy to visualise the story while reading. Even though this book is being marketed as a YA thriller, I can see many adults enjoying this book as well as young adults.

I would definitely recommend The City of Saints and Thieves to everyone who loves a book that will take you on a journey that you will never forget. I found this book to be a gripping and exciting read that everyone and anyone would enjoy reading.
